James D’Arienzo was never a huge fan of reading until 1988, when a friend of his introduced him to a fantasy novel called The Crystal Shard by R.A. Salvatore. It was this book that led him down the amazing path to The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire and many more Fantasy juggernauts. After having his first novel, Woodbyrne: The Fallen Forest, published in 2003, James decided to branch out and expand his horizons. This led him to go back and rediscover some of the most powerful books ever written, including The Grapes of Wrath, The Catcher in the Rye, 1984, Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World. These struggles of the less fortunate, mixed in with societal greed and corruption, helped mold and mature James’ writing style and, for good or bad, his views of the world around him. James’ dry sense of humor and satirical tendencies is what led him to write his latest novel, Lost in the Tool Shed, a New Adult Fiction about a sardonic man-child who has less than one week to prepare for his first interview since graduating college. Lost in the Tool Shed can be seen as a modern take of John Kennedy Toole’s A Confederacy of Dunces.
When he is not working on getting his latest novel published or figuring out appropriate social media behaviors, James enjoys writing humorous children’s tales, mountain biking, home brewing and spending time with his family.
James is a current member of the Liberty States Fiction Writers (www.libertystatesfictionwriters.com).
